Q: Which layers of the skin are affected by a sunburn

Hi there

 

First, here is some general information about sunburn from Medline Plus and some tipis about sunburn first aid from My Skin Care Connection .

 

Sunburn happens when the sun radiates UV rays, which pass through the epidermis to the dermis.  Here is an image to help you see the different layers of skin .
