Q: My mother who is 65 had breast cancer 3 years ago with mastectomy, radiation, and chemo.

She had 17 lymph nodes positive on the mastectomy side.  Since then the cancer returned twice as an upper chest skin rash.  She has been through several different rounds of chemo and radiation.  The last time the rash was biopsied and was malignant.  She has now been off chemo for a few months and the rash has returned.  She has had a difficult time with chemo causing her feet to be numb.  She is worried about her mobility if she takes more chemo.   What are her other options?       Also, multiple PET scans have come back negative for internal cancer.

Hi there

First of all I want to say that I am so sorry that your mother has gone through all of this.  And this must be very difficult for you as well.

Your question is a serious one and needs to be answered by her doctor.  If you are unsatisfied with the answer a second opinion can always be sought after.

In the meantime let me give you the link to our breast cancer site.  They may have some insights to share.

I wish I had more to offer you.  I hope you get the answers you need for your mom.
