Question
Karen

Our infant 6 wks old has a small crusty spot on her forehead. Pediatrician said it could possibly

become cancerous.  We can't get in to see a dermatologist for months should we worry?  It is a very light tan color about 1/2" or less and a little bumpy when we run our finger over it.  Please give us any info.  Karen

I would assume if the dermatologist was extremely concerned - he or she would ask for an "emergency consult."  That being said - if it were my child and the comment of "could become cancerous" were said to me - I would find a way to get a dermatology consult sooner than in several months.  You can petition your HMO - if that is what is the mitigating factor - for the delay in being seen and I do mean "get on the horn and harangue them to be seen sooner" - I have seen persistance get this done.  Good luck!!
