Q: How do I know if I need to see a doctor for a burn on my forearm? Possible 2nd or 3rd degree in a line about 2 inches long, at least 1/2 inch wide. Happened 6 days ago.

Very little pain. No sign of infection as far as I can tell.

Hi there

How are you feeling now?  Is your skin healing?

If it is a third degree burn the nerves may be damaged and this is why you are not feeling much pain.   If you suspect that this is a second or third degree burn...yes by all means you should see a doctor.  You probably should have seen a physician right away if you suspected that this was a third degree burn.

The American Family Physician website has some first aid tips about the treatment of burns

Please see your doctor if you have not done so already.

Hope you are feeling better.  Thank you for your question.
