How long does flap edema take to resolve itself?

I recently had Mohs surg on the ala of my R nostril.  They had to go in 3x's.  A plastic surg did a flap reconstruction.  How long does it generally take for the flap edema to resolve itself?  Also, are there any bandages that are sunproof?  I put sunblock on under my bandaid but the Doc said 30%of rays go thru it anyway.  I am 1 month post-op.  Thank u very much.  Also, the original Mohs surg said to start gently massaging the incision site 3x's daily.  The plastic never mentioned it.  Thank u again!  I am a retired nurse and I must say this has been extremely traumatic.  I wish I had been told about the possibilties of the extensive reconstruction and timeline following.  Shocking to look at every day.
