Q: www.skinofmine.com website to analyze and compare moles, etc.

Periodical self-checks and doctor visits are great but it is very difficult for me and for my doctor to see if my mole changed in color, shape, etc. There is this website www.skinofmine.com . You upload your photos and it does skin mole analysis and comparison. In addition to my doctor visits, how often should I do the self-exams and comparisons?

Hello BK

That is a really intriguing site.  That could be useful to people who wish to check their moles.  The Skin Cancer Foundation recommends this:  "It should be done often enough to become a habit, but not so often as to feel like a bother. For most people, once a month is ideal, but ask your doctor if you should do more frequent checks."

You don't want to be a nervous wreck about it but a periodic self check is a good idea and also to see your dermatologist for an all over skin check at least once a year...more often if your doctor tells you to.

Thanks for letting us know about the site and thank you for your question.
