Help for the pain caused by needles in the nose

Can anything be done about the pain from the needles in the nose for mohs surgery?  I had one surgery done on the top of my nose, the sutures were put in the second day, the pain was horrible! Why the stitches on another day?  I have another on my nose that needs surgery but I cannot…
