Tadpoles hold clues to new melanoma treatment

British scientists say a compound that blocked the development of the distinctive markings of tadpoles in experiments could help to prevent melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer. In a recent study, researchers used a compound known as NSC 84093 to stop the movement of pigment cells in developing South African clawed frog tadpoles. Scientists say this finding suggest the drug could one day stop the mutant melanocytes that cause skin cancer from spreading in the body. Read more »
