Non-melanoma skin cancer boosts later cancer risk: expert

A reader asks if having non-melanoma skin cancer makes a person more likely to develop cancer in later life. Expert Linda Searing responds by giving information about a study published in the Journal of the National Institute. In this analysis of data on more than 19,000 people, researchers found that people who had had non-melanoma skin cancer were twice as likely to develop another type of cancer as were those who had not had skin cancer.
