Skin cancer boosts risk of other cancers: study

A new study published in the British Journal of Cancer has found that having skin cancer doubles the risk of developing some other form of cancer. For the study, researchers looked at 1,837 people treated for melanoma and 20,823 treated for non-melanoma skin cancer between 1993 and 2002. They found that compared with the general population, those with non-melanoma skin cancer were almost twice as likely to go on to develop melanoma. They were also 57 percent more likely to go on to develop another type of cancer.  Read full story >
