Plastic surgeons get low grades for hand-washing: study

According to a new small study, only 53 percent of facial plastic surgeons knew that alcohol-based rubs are considered the best way to kill bacteria on hands that appear clean. The surgeons fared better on identifying the best method for cleaning visibly dirty hands, with 75 percent knowing that soap and water were the best way to get such hands clean. Only 42 percent knew they should cleanse their hands before and after contact with a patient or using examination gloves.
