Skin cancer drug shows promise in early trial

Scientists say an early clinical trial of an experimental medication called GDC-0449 has shown promising results. In the study of 33 people with metastatic basal cell skin cancers, 18 patients showed tumor shrinkage or an overall improvement in skin cancer symptoms. Scientists say the pill works by blocking a specific cell regulator called a Hedgehog signaling pathway.  Read full story >
