Radiation after surgery lowers melanoma recurrence

Radiation treatment for patients whose skin cancer has spread to their lymph nodes may reduce the risk of recurrence, experts say. Researchers in Australia studied 217 patients who had lymph nodes removed and found that 19 percent of those who'd had radiation experienced a recurrence, compared to 31 percent of patients who did not have postoperative radiation. Researchers say patients should talk to their doctor about the possibility of adding radiation to their treatment options.  Read full story >
