Researchers at the U.S. National Cancer Institute say tumors of skin appendages such as sweat glands, mammary glands, hair, and nails are on the rise in the United States. The scientists say that though these cancers are still rare, their incidence appears to rise as people's age. In fact, individuals ages 80 and older were found to be 100 times more likely to develop one of these cancers than people aged 20 to 29.
