Generic Name: TRETINOIN CREAM - TOPICAL

Your healthcare professionals (e.g., doctor or pharmacist) may already be aware of any possible drug interactions and may be monitoring you for it. Do not start, stop or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.

This drug should not be used with the following medications because very serious interactions may occur:

  • products containing alpha hydroxy acid
  • products containing glycolic acid


If you are currently using medications containing the ingredients listed above, tell your doctor or pharmacist before starting tretinoin.

Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and nonprescription/herbal products you may use, especially of:

  • hair perming solutions
  • alcohol/lime/menthol-containing products (such as astringents, toners, shaving lotions)
  • medicated or abrasive soaps and cleansers
  • products containing sulfur, resorcinol or salicylic acid
  • soaps and cosmetics with a strong drying effect
  • other drugs that may increase your sensitivity to sunlight (e.g., fluoroquinolones such as ciprofloxacin, tetracyclines, thiazide water pills such as hydrochlorothiazide, sulfa drugs such as sulfamethoxazole, phenothiazines such as chlorpromazine)


Benzoyl peroxide should not be applied at the same time as this medication.
