I have adult eczema and I get flare ups on my hands. I just have one bit of advice for others. If you have eczema I recommend you don't get a job where you have to wash your hands a lot. I worked in a hospital setting and I was constantly washing my hands. This was a very painful experience for my hands!

I started with what I thought was hives on January 5th.  I am on hemodialysis and never had a rash my whole life (except when I lived in NY and came across poison ivy), but here in FL I never come across that and never get anything.  These hives were at first I'd feel a pain prick - almost like a bite, then it would itch, whelt up and I'd scratch it until I broke the skin, then they'd stay raised with a black end - almost like bruised skin, or sometimes a scab.  They never go away, reheal, reitch - even the original one in the small of my right back waistline area is still there.  Went to dermatologist.  She took biopsies and said I have secondary eczema - that something from the inside of me is coming out - like I'm inhaling something that I'm allergic to.  I went to an allergist.  First week had all the outside and inside allergins put on my back - I'm allergic to nothing.  Second week I had all the possible food and drug allergies put on my back and again - nothing.  The allergist said in my blood work it shows my PTH levels are extremely high and I have hypothyroidism and need to go on medicine.  He thinks maybe that's why I have the bumps.

What do you think?  I've been on thyroid medicine two weeks now and nothing.  He also has me taking zyrtek and an antacid after each dialysis treatment.  Doesn't stop the itching.  Let me know what you think.
