We are continuing our series this week on things that make you itch. Last week we discussed the wide variety of triggers for itchy skin with my introductory post, “What Is Causing My Itch?” One possible cause for itchy skin is tick bites.
Spring time, with its warm damp weather...

Not sure what kind they were, I guess the black legged tick, but recall having to stand in a grassy area between an exit and entrance ramp to a local interstate for a while.
Much later, while lying in bed waiting to sleep, I felt, something on my leg. Then felt a hard bump and got up to see what this bump was. It was a tick and it brought company. Because I found two others on me, feasting. They looked pretty fat already.
I didn't know there was a method for taking them off properly, so I just pulled them off.
A long time after that, when my doctor was trying to find why I had developed peripheral neuropathy, he tested for Lyme disease, one possible cause, but that wasn't found.
Still, from what I've read, the affects of untreated, or delayed treated, Lyme disease can be devastating, so it is a good idea to cover the subject as we, and our kids, go through grass, weeds and woods this year.
Next article, maybe I'll find out the proper way to remove a tick! :) Thanks for this information.
