It is a common experience to get an unexplained rash. Sometimes such rashes go away before you have even had the chance to make an appointment to see a doctor. Rashes greatly vary as to how long they persist, their cause, and how severe the symptoms will be. And while most rashes pose little risk to...

For example, it is very important if you are taking Lamictal (usually for bipolar or seizures but also used as an add-on for depression) there are 2 very serious rashes that can develop (rare & the provider will titrate the dosage slowly to try to attempt avoid these rashes).
1st is Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS)
2nd is toxic epidrmal necrolysius (TEN)
Also, rashes from allergic reactions need to be looked at as many times allergic reactions start w/"lower" reactions such as rashes & hives & then develop after each exposure (like my son w/bee stings & certain kinds of shellfish) to increasingly worse reactions to the point of needing to go the ER due to his breathing being blocked off.
Hello and thank you!
This is very good information and you have given me a good topic to write about in the future.
Yes and true about allergic reactions...my son has anaphylaxis to peanuts and his first reaction was a giant hive on his forehead. It was very frightening. We fortunately have not had any more reactions since the removal of all peanut products from our home. He is now fourteen and knock on wood...never have had to use the Epi-pen for him.
I thank you again for your comment. I do hope you will stop by again to read and to share your knowlege and experiences with us.
