We've all been warned about the dangers of sun exposure, both outdoors and in the tanning salon.
But to drive the point home, the U.S. New and World Report published an article today by Adam Voiland, titled "It's Indoor Tanning Season. But Watch Out", about the dangers of using a tanning bed, during months when it is too cold to lay out.
According to Voiland, 30 million people go to tanning salons yearly.
Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, has increased by more than 690% since 1950, and 9% between 2005 and 2006.
A repost from Norway and Sweden followed women who used tanning beds regularly for 8 years and found that they had a 55% more likely chance of getting melanoma than those who didn't.
As tanning beds become more convenient - there's one right next to your office! Whoops- it's next to my grocery store!- the chances of more and more people getting skin cancer cannot be disputed.
Do your part for your skin health and avoid the tanning bed this winter, and for the rest of your life.
