Rosewater has left an indelible mark on human history.  This clear, sweet-tasting, aromatic liquid has been used in perfumery, cosmetics and medicine for many centuries

Classically, rosewater is made using damask roses, many-petaled and fragrant. These were first grown in Iran and Bulgaria, but are now frequently found in Spain, Italy and France.  However, the Middle Eastern countries remain some of the largest producers of rosewater because of the availability of damasks.  Today, the best rose hydrosol is distilled in Bulgaria, although France also has a thriving rosewater industry.

Rose water is a by-product of the steam distillation process by which rose oil is obtained from the flower's petals, primarily for perfume. Usage dates back, at least, to the early Romans, but production with steam distillation was probably first used by the Arabian doctor Avicenna in the 10th century.

The most obvious reason for the growing popularity of rosewater  is its rich fragrance which simply freshens up one's mind and body. Its pleasant and romantic fragrance has made it a popular ingredient in many body creams.

Rosewater is  a  wonderful skin toner  which helps in the natural firming and toning of skin along with hydrating the skin to make it glow with health. Using it regularly or even frequently helps in the cleaning and tightening of skin's pores. It is a perfect natural skin toner which can also be used over makeup.

Rosewater controls and balances sebum production, making it useful for both dry and oily skin. It can balance and restore the skin's Ph and helps tighten pores. Its  antibacterial properties help fight acne giving troubled skin a gentle, rather than a harsh treatment. It is reputed to be useful in the treatment of all sorts of dermatitis.

Rosewater stimulate the skin , heightening the blood flow.  Rosewater is  an excellent gentle option for anyone with dry, sensitive skin, as recent studies have demonstrated that rose water does not have any drying effect on the skin.
