hey, great post.
Unfortunatley tooth paste has never worked for me, despite many people recommending it as a great spot treatment.
I found an acne free treatment that worked at this site: www.acnecareanswers.com. Personally, I've started a daily skin product regime, combined with a multi-vitamin and better diet! Things seem to be improving so far!
Right now I have a stray pimple, and put toothpaste on it- in a few hours I know the swelling will be down and the pimple will be much less bothersome (or may even be gone! let's hope). I do this about twice a year (I rarely have pimple type acne). Toothpaste works, I almost always have it on hand, and it's cheap. Saying it is a myth is unfair, and although it likely will worsen acne with prolonged usage (like many treatments) there is no reason to believe it is unsafe- after all, we swallow how many tubes of this stuff in our lifetimes? If toothpaste is unsafe using it on pimples is the least of our worries.
i got a terribly big piple under the skin on my chin area. it was rock hard, extreamly red and hurt really bad. i had a date in a few days amd tried a ton of things to get rid of it, even my mothers topical proscription acne medication none of it worked, untill a friend of mine told me she used tootpaste on hers and it worked...so i said what the hell...ill try it. ive been using it for the past couple of days and the size and redness had reduced tremendously, and the pain has gone away. i used sensodyne toothpaste
I have had persistent acne for several years now. I've tried everything over-the-counter you can name. Proactive worked for about five years then for no reason at all just completely stopped working for me. I tried everything! The dermatogist prescibed several medications for me that worked but I just don't have the funds to purchase the medication. Someone mentioned toothpaste and I recall hearing that before but never tried it. Well I did and it worked! It worked within days! The only problem is that it will irritate your skin if you use it as a cream. You really need only do it as a spot treatment. So well I respect the author's comment as a individual living with acne over-the-counter acne spot treatments did not work for me but the toothpaste treatment DID!
I concur. I don't think that toothpaste should be used as a mask as I've seen recommended on some websites, but as a spot treatment, it's always worked for me.
Ditto. It does work.It does not dry my skin anymore than oxy products and is cheaper and more available. Also Sephore makeup remover is the best to remove dirt from pores.
Same! As a spot treatment, I used a dab of toothpaste on a pimple that has been bothering me for the last couple days (had tried spot treating it with my acne cream but with little results) Having the toothpaste on the spot for a number of minutes actually made a phenomenal difference. I'm sure the type of tooth paste might change the effectiveness. One of baking soda might be more effective ( i hear baking soda and water is another fairly effective household.) I had used "Colgate Total Whitening".

Some good tips. Says to avoid the colored, whitening or fluoride ones. More likely to cause irritation.
Note: Most sources say to steer clear of the tooth paste altogether though.
