Making your own lip balm is a great idea and with the Holiday Season around the corner makes a great little gift!
Homemade lip balm has no preservatives, artificial colors, or artificial sweeteners. This makes the product less likely to irritate sensitive skin.
You can add skin-pampering ingredients such as sesame oil, shea butter, and cocoa butter to your homemade lip balms.
It's easy to do and you can take your time experimenting to get just the right consistency.
All the ingredients can be found at natural food stores. You will also need two small lip balm jars.
Recipe
2 tsp. Beeswax , shredded
2 tsp. Cocoa butter
2 tsp. Almond oil
2 tsp. Shea butter
1/8 tsp. Honey
Put the shredded beeswax, cocoa butter, almond oil and shea butter in a small measuring cup, and melt at low heat in the microwave, then add 1 tsp. honey.
Stir the mixture until cool.
Pour the mixture into containers and let set until completely cool.
Lip balm offers great protection by sealing in moisture to prevent the wind and sun from doing damage to lips.
Lip balm isn't just for lips, though, and does double duty as a beauty aid .
It stops the bleeding from shaving nicks. Dab on a little lip balm and stop the bleeding from most small cuts.
Protect your face from windburn. Stroke a little lip balm across your cheeks before heading down the slopes or heading out for a winter walk.
