Protect Your Skin With Chemical Free Fabrics

By verdungal Saturday, February 14, 2009

Bamboo fabric is very comfortable and 100% biodegradable

Ingeo is a NatureWorks trademark for a man-made fibre made from renewable resources (plants), as opposed to oil.

Tencel is a brand name for a biodegradable fabric made from wood pulp cellulose. It has a soft finish, packs light and is made from cellulose (vegetable matter), or wood pulp (typically a mix of hardwood trees such as oak and birch). This makes it a natural fabric, and it is noted for its durability and strength , in addition to itseco-friendly manufacturing techniques.

Model is currently called the new "wonder" fabric. It is a processed, bio-based textile made from the reconstituted cellulose of beech trees. This fabric combines the benefits of natural fibre and the fantastically soft feel of modern microforms.

You can make a difference by purchasing clothes made with organically grown fabrics that are undyed or naturally dyed, you will be protecting the planet and protecting your skin .

I just purchased a new shirt from LL Bean that is wrinkle free. I washed the shirt prior to wearing it but after a few hours noticed that my abdomen became irritated and red. It appears to be a reaction to the shirt.

Does any one know where to find shirts without formaldehyde in them? I have been buying shirts from Lands End for several years and have been able to wear the shirts after washing them several times. However, this year, washing the shirts several times doesn't seem to be helping with the skin irritation. I think this is because the shirts are being made in a different country now.

Suggest you do a Google query : " buy formaldehyde free clothing" One source I found was www.pristineplanet.com. Good luck!

Thank you for the article. My baby always wakes up with a rash. I have tried switching detergents, but that doesn't seem to help. After reading this article I'm thinking about purchasing her some organic baby sleepwear. Hopefully this will help her sensitive skin. Thanks for the information!
