A recent poll of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons found that 62% reported a decrease in all cosmetic procedures in the first 6 months of the year, when compared to the same time frame last year.  I expect by January 2009, an even further down-swing will have been noted, due to an even more dismal financial picture.  So if you do have some $$$ or if you feel comfortable in accruing a bit of credit card debt, that you will have the ability to pay off - then you can probably claim some good deals right now in anti-aging therapies - espcially when it comes to surgery.

I grew up in New York, where the "wheel and deal" attitude reigns supreme.  I don't think I would hesitate now to try and bargain down the price of a face lift, liposuction or other more costly procedures if i was ready to go under the knife.  Elective surgery is hurting, particularly in the world of cosmetics,  so why not try to make a deal.  If your surgeon won't lower his fee, then you can try to get a year's worth of Botox or the promise of free fillers for a period of time or microdermabrasion every other month for 6 months or ...whatever you can come up with.  An empty surgical suite has to be paid for - so I think even highly regarded plastic surgeons will entertain some discussion.

What the medical community and board certified doctors do not want to see is people going to less reputable, cheaper healthcare providers - they'd rather you forgo the anti-aging procedures than seek bargains in bad places.  You get one face and one body and a "cheap, bad decision" in the world of plastic surgery can cost you your life.  So go ahead and seek bargains from the reputable doctor and aesthetic community.  It truly is the time to get a deal!!
