By Brittany Thursday, January 14, 2010

I have a sister that is about ten years old and has a a rash simiar to this occassion before. the rash started on her ankle and has gradually moved up the body. the rash is very red colored and very itchy. some of the clusters actually look like welts. we know that is is not allergies because every thing has remained constant. the doctor thought it was fifths disease however it is not on her face. We have no clue what this could possible be..

Hi there

I am sorry your sister is having to deal with this rash.  I am sure this must be very frustrating for your family.

Here are images of what Fifth's disease can look like.  Is there any way that you missed the rash beginning on her face?

Know that I am not a doctor and so I cannot give any medical advice.

My best suggestion is to have her see a dermatologist.  They may know better about what this can be.

I hope you find out what is causing this.  Thank you for your question.

Thanks for the link.. we took her into the doctor and they took a biopsy, we dont know the results yet. The doctor told us that what she has could be exzema herpeticum; however we are still waiting...

Thanks so much for reporting back!  My son has eczema and this can be managed fairly well.  Let us know what the final report is if you can.
