Hi there
Is the reason you are asking this question because your doctor has prescribed this medication to you to treat acne and prevent ovarian cysts? I am trying to understand the basis for your question.
Yes sometimes doctors will prescribe a low dose birth control pill to treat acne. It may be used when topical creams and other acne medications aren't working.
And yes sometimes doctors will prescribe birth control pills so that functional ovarian cysts do have a chance to develop. If you don't ovulate you are less likely to form cysts.
Hope this helps some. Thank you for your question.
