Q: dry, itchy, bumps and blisters on hand

dry, itchy, bumps and blisters on my hands. It started off on just one finger and spreaded to both hands and half my palms. It comes and goes and most the time its dry. I first thought it was a chemical burn or scabies but its not. It gets irrated when I use water and dry my hands afterwards. I am constantly using lotion on hands but it doesn't seem to work. It hurts when I try to make a fist because of my fingers being dry. I need help on trying to figure out how to cure this. I been to Doctor's that don't know what it is. Can someone please help....

i have the same thing and it also started only on my finger and than spreaded to palm, somethimes it dryes so much that skin brakes and it hurts like hell. I dont really know what it is but I am using a lot of detergens, make up, acne products and stuff like that. If i use hidrocortysone(antiitch creme) it helps but I need to use it all the time. It sucks.

I haven't seen doctor yet but I am planning to. If you found out what it is let me know, I'll do the same

My itchy bumps and blisters on my hands sounds similar to what you both are experiencing but just a little difference. First I get a few little bumps that start itching like crazy (and I mean crazy)! Then they become fluid-filled blisters, and they break open, and I believe the fluid is what makes them spread. But this is just on my hands. I also get what looks like little mosquito bites on my legs, and after itching them like crazy they start to spread. I'll get a few on the front of my leg and then over the next few days I'll start to see a few more here and there. Since my husband is not having any problems I know it isn't anything in our living area, we don't have pets, so I know its not fleas or anything like that. This all started a couple years ago. I went to my doctor, she said it was a type of edema. She prescribed a lotion for me (Clotrimazole & Betamethasone Dipropionate), at first it seemed to help but this time it isn't helping very much. This is the 3rd time I've gotten it, and this is the worst episode I've ever had. It use to just be the hands but now It's the legs and arms, and I have a patch on my stomach.  I've been looking up anything about skin edemas and rashes, and found so many things I'm starting to feel it could be anything. I found some things under Nettle Rash that are similar to what I'm experiencing, but I also looked up dyshidrotic eczema, and there are things there that a similar, so who knows.  But you all might try this website (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dyshidrosis).  I did find some info there that mentions many things we all have related here, and there was another person on that website that mentioned using apple cider vinegar to alleviate her problem. I'm going to give it a try. Anything is better than itching myself raw!!!! If it works I'll let you know. Good luck.

I have the same basic thing. I have a dry spell, complete with wrinkly skin on my fingers and start using lotion more and more,...then, I have noticed that after a dry episode like that, I always develop little, itchy bumps on the tips of my fingers and around nails, that have, at times, gone down the length of the fingers to the first knuckle.   The bumps are sometimes on one or two fingers, sometimes on four.  I have had a few on my palms, but not usually.  Sometimes a few of them will get fairly big.  The bigger they get, the more itchy, and painful.  They don't usually get painful, but when they do, they can hurt alot.  It is sorta hard to explain, so I am doing the best I can.  The bumps themselves, are small, smooth, not red, but more clearish, with sometimes a darker middle.  I have popped the bigger ones before with a needle and get clear fluid, but have found that popping them does not get rid of them, and they come back and just hurt more.  I have tried hydrocortisone, calamine lotion, and antibacterial and some other creams.  NOTHING has worked.  In time they go away.  Maybe a week or two.  THere seems to be no pattern, and I don't have a clue what causes it. Is it nerves?  Is is a form of herpes?  I don't have any diseases, including herpes, no other problems, and they don't seem to be contagious as I have had them for over 7  years and no one in my family has gotten them.  I did look it up before, and the closest I could come to finding my condition was a thing called Pomphlox.  So if anyone out there knows what this is, PLEASE HELP!!

Thank you,,   Cris, Nevada
