I finally started searching the Web for an answer why my lips are peeling. I'm a 52 year old female and this condition started about a year ago. For me it all started with some kind of allergic reation -One night I got hives over 90% of my body and terrible indigestion. I continued getting hives about twice a week and indigestion although not as bad. At about that time  the skin on my lips tightened and then started peeling. I went to an allergist and found I was not allergic to any foods. The allergist thought it could be an auto immune thing and that it will probably go away and we will never find out what the root of the problem was. I now take an anithistamine daily which has lessened the hives.  I went to a dermatologist about the chapped lips and she gave me a cream thinking is was bacterial. That did not help. I am clueless as to what is going on. I do think the hives and lips are connected. I will be seeing an internist next month. If you come up with anything let me know. I will as well. Good luck.

sorry i have no answer but some ideas.  i have a problem with my lips peeling and i think it may be a reaction to the sunscreen i use and or  the sunscreen lip balm. i dont know if you use those kind of products but maybe try a different brand if so. also- could this be a  food allergy that you might have developed?    best regards- from rebecca

Curious as I have the exact same issue with my lips. Have you found an answer to the problem? I am going to a derm but jus t wanted to see if anyone had any positive experience with this condition prior to going. I have stopped a lot of things thinking it was food related, What I believe it to be is a form of Chelitis (Sailors lip) from over exposure to the sun.
