Hi there

First of all let me preface the information I am about to give you by saying that I am not a doctor.

Is this a new mole?  Most of the literature says that red moles are benign but to be on the safe side the  ABC's of skin cancer should be evaluated.

"A" Is the mole assymetrical?  This means...does the mole look different on each side and not match up?  If it is assymetrical there is more of a chance it is malignant.

"B" Malignant moles have irregular and jagged borders.

"C"  is for color.  Generally, the darker the mole, the higher risk of it being cancerous

"D" is for diameter.  If your mole is larger than a pencil eraser...you should get it checked out.

And then there is the possibility that this isn't a mole at all!

The best advice I can give to you is for you to see your doctor or dermatologist so they can take a look at your mole or growth firsthand.  That way you will have peace of mind.

Thank you for your question.
