What are these itchy, on fire, small skin toned bumps around my jaw line and cheeks?

In the last 3-4 months, my face has been irritated on and off with the same symptoms. First, I developed a sore - which I thought was a pimple but when it got larger and stayed flat, it was just a sore. the surrounding area of my jaw lines and cheek were inflamed and covered in tiny, skin colored bumps that felt on fire one minute and itchy the next. I went to the doctor who said it was probably an allergic reaction but because I hadn't changed my routine, he just subscribed me skin cream and some antibiotics for the sore. The sore eventually healed but the bumps continue to return. They continually itch or feel on fire and it is driving me nuts! There are no other outbreaks on my body, it is just on my face around the cheeks and mostly the jaw line. My skin does not feel overly oily but it also does not feel dry. I've never had skin problems, not even acne. I've only gotten a dozen or so zits/pimples in my life and they are nothing like this. I use Hypo-allergenic everything - detergent, lotions, shampoos, etc. And I went to an allergist last year and the year prior about my skin and throat colds I was getting but I wasn't allergic to a thing. Itchy and on fire, help me figure out what to do! Even if it's a simple on the shelf lotion! READ MORE

    Hi there

I am sorry you are going through this.  Please know that I am not a doctor or a dermatologist.  My first suggestion is to get another opinion from a dermatologist.

The burning skin symptom does ring a bell however with a post I wrote about Periorial Dermatitis.  I don't know if your doctor offered this as a possibility?  Are you using any new moisturizers or skin care products?  Do you use fluoridated toothpaste?  Are you using corticosteroid creams?  Do any foods seem to aggravate your condition like spicy foods?  What happens if you just wash with water...no soaps or facial products?

Your skin condition could be any number of things so it would be a good idea to seek the advice of another doctor to make sure of what this is and how to treat it.

Please let us know if you find out what is causing your skin irritation.  Thank you for your question.
