Q: What is this cluster of painful bumps?
On Saturday I experienced some slight itching on a spot right above my knee cap. I went to scratch the small bump but stopped because when I touched it, it began to sting a little. Later on I took my bath and went to bed. Sunday morning when I woke up I noticed there were a couple more bumps with it. This time there was no itching, just stinging. I put an alcohol soaked cotton round on it for a few moments and hoped for the best then covered it with a bandage because I didn't want my pants to rub against it. Fast forward to Monday morning, there's a nickle-sized cluster of painful pus-filled bumps. Its more like a mound. It also is swollen and tender for about 1/3 of an inch surrounding it. Here it is now, Tuesday morning, and not only is it a mound of bumps but it seems they're filling out that small radius rather quickly and I also now feel pain running up the front of my thigh from this infection. I'm not sure where this has come from and being that I had on freshly washed jeans Saturday I doubt that any dirt manifested itself in my skin.I also doubt that its an insect bite because this has happened twice before, years ago in a very similar way in the exact same area and it took weeks to clear up.The pain feels like it goes deep under the mound and the center is white under the surface (I suppose I am seeing through the skin because the pus may be clear fluid). There is no drainage or weeping. Is there a way I can treat this or some type of medicine I could use to get this thing off of me?
Please help. :(
