Q: Folic acid for hair loss due to thyroid?

It took me literally years to get a doctor to listen to me about symptoms of hypothyroidism. During that time, my hair thinned significantly. It's starting to come back now that I'm taking thyroid medication. Would folic acid help speed the process?

I know there are "hair support" supplements out there that help provide nutrients which may or may not support hair growth.  Also a dermatologist who specializes in scalp/hair might be able to make shampoo/conditioner/scalp treatment recommendations to support re-growth.

You might even be a candidate for rogaine products - but again i would check with a dermatologist or stylist who has a specific background in this type of problem.  I did have hair thinning till I was diagnosed with the condition and my hair filled out over the course of a year.
