Thursday, February 04, 2010 Irritated Arms asks

Q: My doctor said it was staph, but I believe its much more.

It started with my arms breaking out with 3 little fine bumps. From there it got worse. These bumps turned into bumps that look like huge hives. They are starting out as small patches and as they grow, they're spreading outward to be really big. When they do reach a certain size, they usually have fever in them and they make the spot their in very painful. I am on an antibiotic and a prescribed cream. It got rid of the original bumps, but others pop up in different places before the night is over. Now I have the bump scars from those that have been cleared up. I cant scratch and my fingers look like nubs because I had to cut my nails all the way down. What could this be or is it actually staph infection? Also, what do bed bugs look like?

Hello there

Here is our information we have about staph infections and here are the symptoms:

Staph skin infections normally cause a red, swollen, and painful area on the skin. Other symptoms may include:

* A skin abscess
* Drainage of pus or other fluids from the site
* Fever
* Warmth around the infected area

Here are some images of staph infection.

If your doctor says this is what it is...it probably is just that.

Here are some images of bed bugs.

Hope this helps some!  Thank you for your question.
