Q: Raised bumps on son's back leg - not warts or bug bites but can't figure out what they are. HELP

My 4 year old son has raised bumps on his right back leg. Some are large and some are tiny but all have a white head on them. He's had them for about 6 months now but they never hurt until recently. I thought they were warts but had not treated them. They recently have turned red/inflamed. He says they've started to hurt and when I put cream (from local health store) on them, he says they hurt to the touch but the cream makes them feel better. I've searched the net but can't figure out what they are.  One of the bumps is hard under the skin and doesn't have a white head (so it may be a different issue all together).

Well it sound like pimples becauses when i had pimples they were red and had a white head and they hurt me too. because the pimple was in a sesitive area and behind his leg is an senstive area for him all he needs to do is let them go through their stage and they will pop or try poping them and the underneath bumps just leave alone intel a white head appears and that tells you that it is ready to be popped. And it isn't a wart because i had warts on my finger and i freezed them off and warts don't have white head or isn't underneath his skin. Warts are versues what appears above the skin and the only way to get rid of the warts is freeze them off and take it to the germantyist but with the pimps just let them go through their stage and when don't put lotion on pimps it will irrate them.

Well, acutally, I took him to a dermatologist shorty after my post.  It turns out he had molluscum.  It's contagious and spreads.  He was treated in the office 3 times and it took about 4 months for it to go away completely.
