Q: Dry, round itchy patch above my knee.

I have a round itchy spot about 5 inches above my knee. It's been there for over a year. No matter what I put on it, it just dries up. Cortisone, lotion, vaseline. I pulled the skin off twice, but it just grows back the same. And the texture of it is not the same as the skin on my leg. The area around it has a rubbery fill to it. Please help

Hi Callie

Oh please don't pull off the skin.  It really could be anything.  Is it growing?  Changing colors?  Changing in appearance in any way?  I think to be safe you should have this spot examined by a doctor or preferably a dermatologist.

I wish I had suggestions for you but nobody can diagnose what you have over the Internet.  You will need to see a doctor.

Thank you for your question.

I have one too on my knee just at the bottm and it has been there for yrs, this is what I think it is DEAD SKIN from lack of blood circulation caused from smoking ciggs. Now you can have a callis also that is dead skin too and how does it grow back? well there are still skin cells that are alive.
