People with more melanin in their skin do have to deal with skin discoloration after scarring. You can try a lightening product such as Murad Age Spot & Pigment Lightening Gel. It contains hydroquinone, which has been shown to lighten hyperpigmentation, as well as glycolic acid, which helps exfoliate skin. Using these kinds of lightening products won't cause miraculous fading, but it does seem to help in terms of fading the intensity of dark spots. Keeping her out of the sun will also help prevent the spots from getting darker.
