Q: What is the reason my daughter seems to still have chicken pox after 2months when my doctor has said that is not at all possibule?

my daughter is 2yrs old an she has had what looks like chicken pox for 2months now.My older daughter came home from school with chicken pox about 2months ago an thats when my 2yr old broke out with what looked like chicken pox, i used the normal things to get rid of chicken pox an it seemed to work. but then a week or so later they were back. an this has been going on for 2months now. They look like a bug bite an get big an pussey, an they are very itchey. they have not changed from the original chicken pox look. i have spoken to my doctor an he says its no way possible for them to be chicken pox. I dont know what to do, once i have them cleared up an gone it is only a few more days before they are back. I have ruled out bed bugs due to her bed still being in the original plastic. We have also ruled out scabes, so i am at a loss an dont know what to do! if somebody could please help?! thanks Crystal

Hi there

I am sorry this is happening.  It must be very frustrating for both you and your daughter.  I am not a medical professional but I would trust your doctor's judgment here.  What is the doctor saying is causing this?  Have you gotten any advice from a dermatologist?

Here is some information about chickenpox and it seems to validate what the doctor is telling you.  They do offer other reasons for symptoms which look like chickenpox such as insect bites, contact dermatitis (is your daughter allergic to anything?) or another viral illness.

If it doesn't go away I would ask the doctor what this could be or else seek a second opinion.

Let us know what happens.  Thank you for your question.
