What is my Rash - Itchy, red, blistering - abdomen and back?

Rash started on my back about a week ago, it began as a mild itch.  Then it showed up on my stomach a couple days later.  Started as just an itchy patch, it has now become a cluster of blisters surrounded by red.  I only have this on my back and abdomen on my right side.  It does not seem to spread, but it doesn't seem to be going away either.  I thought maybe it was a severe reaction to a food allergy(history of fruit/veggie allergies), since its start seemed to coincide with a couple canker sores.  But the canker sores have now gone away, but the rash is still present.  Any ideas?  Attached is a picture, I hope it shows up.  Thanks!

My rash and blisters are identca, and are in the same place. First day it was red and looked just like a rash, then the next I got blisters and by the 3rd day it got more red. Doctor said I had shingles. She looked at it and right off prescribed me some antibotics and itch cream. Both medications are highly expensive. The pain is a bit bad I can't wait for it to clear up.

I came across your posting as I searched for symptoms I am experiencing.  I, too, have the exact same thing you described... only on the right side of my back and abdomen.  I'm going to the Dr's office today, but curious to know if you found out what it was.  I had a bad case of the chicken pox when I was 8yrs old and I don't have any food alergies.  ???

It sounds like celiac disease, a form of wheat/gluten allergy also known as Dermititis Herpetiformis (not related to herpes).  Consider getting a blood test after eating bread or pasta.  They can also do a skin biopsy.  Fortunately, this is easily cured by excluding gluten from your diet.

ITs : HERPES ZOSTER for sure.  It attacks one side of the body.  Relief will come after two weeks.  It could come back ; but will be milder.

Sunday, I started feeling muscle cramps under my left arm pit and monday night, I woke several times with throbbing pain from the left side of my back to the front chest. it's funny because my right side feels fine. Then Monday afternoon, i find see that my back has this huge blister with bubbles inside! The red blister on my back doesn't hurt, but the left side of my back and chest still feel sore.

      What do I have?! help!

It looks as if you have shingles which is a flare-up of an old chicken pox infection. Sshngles can be quite painful in the area it occurs and it can take months to run its course.

I got the same rash.  It's been about 6-8 months now.  Started small on my hip bones, went away, went to other side, then around my wait in small areas, went away, then it's been back for about 3-4 months now, around my abdomen and ribs, travels and leaves to my back, to the hips, then leaves and traveled to the front rib case again.  Thought it had to do with having 'pups' while pregnant, but you're a guy so, that's out.  Did you find out what it is?  I have a doc appointment but can't get in for months....please let me know if you found out what it was!!

This rash looks very much like what I have except mine is across the abdomen and does not involve back. (I have had it now going on about 5 weeks). What is very similar to ine is that I was plagued by canker sores beginning about 2 weeks before this - absolutely pplagued where I would have 4 or 5 at a time - and they were developing back to back. I also broke out with what looked like Chelitis. I treated myself with I brushed with baking soda and rinsed with it, and rinsed with a diluted vinegar solution. After about 2 weeks the mouth problems atrated to clear up - but then there was the rash.

I ahev gone over this a million times - And I am now waiting the long wait to see a dematologist. In the meantime I: Got hold of some acyclovir and take 100 mg twice daily, I rinse the rash with vinegar, wash with oilive oil soap, spray rash with Lamicil (let it dry) and then rub body lotion with latic acid over rash. I also begin each day drinking 2 table spoons of apple cider vinegar in a half cups of water and a multi vitamin with a b-complex and also a extra dose of b12 with iron & C 7 cod liver oil. I am trying anything to beat this and I am doing them all at the same time. This regime either a) works, or b) just seems to work because my body was going to get over it anyway.

I am attacking this as though it can be either an autoimmune issue, a fungal infection, a bacterial infection or a viral infection. - And I am for the time being washing all my cloths without any detergent just in case it is a reaction to laundry detergent - which I think I started using a different kind about when this all started to happen.

Firstly if you have a crawling sensation inside your body it could be shingles so you need immediate medical attention,if its not the case then you have to get a mixture of antifungal and antibiotic with cortisone topical cream and apply only at night as some of these creams can make your skin darker in the sun.also you can take an anthistamine orally that are allowed to take for the amount of days specified by the package and keep the area cold with ice packs not warm cos bacteria loves heat and mutliply.ps. faeeza from Sandton Beauty Clinic

It appears to be a nickel allergy. I had this many years ago and itched it because the sensation was so unbearable- this ended up causing to to be worse and get infected with Staph. Talk to your doctor about a nickel allergy. It starts out looking like little bug bites, but then they become filled with liquid. He/She will give you an steroid ointment to help.
