Q: Is shampooing your hair bad for you?

I'm an asian so I have oily hair so I shower everyday, but after my hair dries, my hair starts to frizz up. I also use heat on my hair everyday. I shower at night then I sleep with my hair wet and then flat iron it every morning. What should I do?

Hi there

I don't know if it is necessarily bad for you but shampooing every day can dry out your hair and scalp. And is sounds like with all the flat ironing...you may be causing damage and stress to your hair.

If you do shampoo...some beauty care experts say to use a clear and gentle shampoo for frequent washings.  Look for the body building ingredient of panthenol in your shampoos.

One option for you may be to use a dry shampoo between washings.  There are a lot of choices out there.  Here is one beauty web site which rates the author's top best dry shampoo choices.  One simple choice is to use baby powder as your dry shampoo.

I hope this helps some.  You can always seek the advise from your hair stylist on this as well.  I am sure there are many products out there to help you.

Thank you so much for your question.
