Q: What causes small brown freckle like spots on the face?
People have various levels of melanocytes in their skin and depending on how they respond to sunlight - you get freckles of various sizes. You can also inherit a predisposition to freckling.
As you age (or with pregnancy) you can also get dark larger than freckle size patches.
