I look tan but I smell like a combo of smelly feet and burnt finger nails...

Fake tanner smells because the DHA is reacting with amino acids in the top layer of skin. Some products use a masking fragrance but these products will smell while DHA reacts. The good news is that it should stop smelling once you wash off the product.
