My friend have had depression for some time. He has attemted suicide twice once he nearly suceeded
second time he was lucky. he dont go out unless im with him as he is a risk to himself and others. i look after him every day as im the only one he trust. He had a bad up bringing went to a special school as he has learning difficulties. Got to make sure i give him his medication every day incase of an over dose. been to the doctors gave him citalopram 40mg but did not work so the doctor put him on different medication 75mg og valaxemine i think. He is awaiting to move in supported living accomidation but i will have to see him every day to make sure he is ok as im the only one that he trust. Is this a mental illness
I would post this on the anxiety/depression connection site so one of the experts can weigh in and so some of the visitors can give you support.

yes, depression is a mental illness. He needs more help than you're giving him. Bless you though. He should be in inpatient care in a mental health facilty intil he gets on a medication that actually helps him. You could call your local county offices and ask for direction on where to get help with this. You entered this on the wrong forum. You would get more responses in the correct forum. Good luck and take care
