Q: I have bumps on the back of my legs and around my bikini line. They come and go and itch badly. I am bruising where I itch. My buttox gets a swarm of puffy bumps as well and then they disappear.

I am not sure what is wrong but I am so miserable with itching and cannot stop itching. I feel like I have cooties or maybe eczema all over but the bumps are just small red bumps, no white head or anything. I have never had this kind of itchy bumpy scenario before and I am currently applying gold bond itch cream and cortisone. I am waiting for a referral to a dermatologist but it isn't happening fast enough. How do you figure out what is happening to your skin?

Hello Aprill

You are doing the right thing by getting an appointment with a dermatologist.  Does anything seem to help?  You say the bumps come and go.  Is there any pattern to when they appear or go away?  You may want to keep a log or even take a photo of the rash to bring in just in case it goes away before you get to see the doctor.

Here is an article I wrote on Unexplained Skin Rashes that might help you in the interim before your appointment.

Please let us know how things work out for you.
