Q: red itchy bumps on forearm

This happened a week ago. I got  2 little bumps on my left forearm and i figured they were ingrown hairs or something of this nature. They itch a little but not extreme. Everyday it grows on my forearm and itches and gets redder. They are little bumps and kinda raise the skin a little. My fiance popped one and it had a clear small amount of fluid come from it.  I havent changed anything like detergents  and thought it could be a dye that I was allergic to in mouthwash or mt dew (red 33)  I stoped using it and used baking soda and water to create a paste and it mellows the redness for a bit. I used cortazone 10 and it dosnt do nothing. I also used zinc ointment and bactricin and it wont stop. I dont have much money for a doctor visit and Im not sure what it is. I washed my sheets on my bed but my fiance sleeps with me and she dosnt have this.

Could it be Keratosis Pilaris?  There are a lot of tips that can definitely help the dry skin and little red bumps associated with KP.  Check out this website www.littleredbumps.com.  It has a ton of information on KP...hope this helps!

I get these too. 1 here or there, not a rash, not keratosis pilaris. Maybe blocked pores or infected hair folicles? I only seem to get them on the top of my forearms.

I have many theories:

I have been taking Omeprazole(Prilosec) for a long period of time, but these just started recently. I have been stressed about being laid off in the past month, (same time frame).

I have had a gum infection the past few weeks, and have been overdosing on Vitamin C and Vitamin E, (Also a possibility)

Also, I live in a condo that has been put up for short-sale (More stress), BUT , we have been packing a lot of old, dusty stuff in boxes to get ready...dust has dust mites...mites cause scabies...hmmm.

Your bumps sound just like mine though.

I have found the cure to similar symptoms! I have experienced reoccurring redness, bumps, and unbearably painful itching in the same spot on my left forearm. I have tried pharmaceutical ointments as well as holistic treatments without relief. I found scratching only irritated my skin more. I applied a Ben gay sports patch to the area and wrapped it with an ace bandage. Surprisingly, my symptoms dissipated. This is an inexpensive and effective way to cure skin irritations.hope this help. Reply
