I recently was diagnosed with gall stones and really don't want to go through with the surgery. I know that gallstones give you back pain and pain in the shoulders. For some reason I always wake up with back pain after I have taken the acutane.
Does acutane cause gallstones or irritate them if it doesn't???

Thank you for your question. Accutane is not known to cause gallstones, though it is associated with a wide range of side effects. Back pain, however, is listed as a side effect of Accutane. You may want to discuss with your doctor whether it's in your best interest to continue taking the Accutane. Well I use to take accutane untill my cholesterol was so high that i had to be taken off of it. Cholesterol causes gullstones which I just had my gullbladder removed so im pretty certain that it was caused by the accutane because it is extremly rare for a 17 year old to get gullstones, especially how many I had.
