Q: problems with weeping blisters on fingertips and palms

My friend's sister had this condition about 3-4- years ago and a doctor gave her a cream and after using...all the symptoms went away. Now 3-4- years later they are back. The balls of her fingertips and the top of the palms are getting water blisters and weeping. They are very sore and messy and she has had to take to using gloves to do anything. I told her I would research online. What do you think?

Hello Nancy

I guess the first question I would ask is...what was the name of that cream and can she get it again?

Does she have an occupation or hobby which has her touching something she may be allergic to?

Does it look like the images on this site describing a form of hand eczema

If they are just on her hands I would suspect something she is coming into contact with may be the culprit.

Take a look at that one site and perhaps there are some clues there but her best bet is for her to see a doctor or dermatologist for a proper diagnosis and treatment.

Let us know if you find out what is causing this for her.  I hope she feels better soon.

Thank you so much for your reply. The pics at the hand excema site did not look tome like they were described to me by my friend.  Only on the balls of the finger tips and the tops of the palms. They are sore and weeping. I agree that they need to find that cream or go to the office where they got it 3 or 4 years ago...that office may have records of what it was.  Yes, I do believe it is sdomehting she is having contact with but they tell me that nothing is different. I guess it is possible that the allergic reaction has once again "built up" is her system and once again is effecting her after a long period of non-reactiveness. Since they went to West Virginia this week I cannot contact her again until they return. In the meantime I am re-opening the question is case anyone else has a hint for me. You however have said everything that I believe is "right" to do. Just have to wait till they get back home.  Once again, Thank you! Nancy

PS: she has taken to wearing laytex gloves...she works in an oral surgeon's office so I figure she wears laytex all the time.  Lots of people are allergic or develop allergies to laytex...food for thought.
