Q: can i use retin-a with glycolic acid exfoliating pads, serums, and moisturizers?

 I consistently use exfoliating washes, glycolic pads,  serums, and moisturizers.  Can I use Retin-A in conjunction with my regular skin care regimen?

Hi Donna

 

This is an excellent question for your doctor.  However, I did find some information for you about Retin-A and they give some warnings about what not to use in conjunction with your medication:


"This drug should not be used with the following medications because very serious interactions may occur:

* products containing alpha hydroxy acid
* products containing glycolic acid

 

If you are currently using medications containing the ingredients listed above, tell your doctor or pharmacist before starting tretinoin.

 

So I would refrain from using these products. Thank you for your question.
