Q: itchy skin and rash everywhere but my head

HI I am 57 and never ever have an allergy of anykind, all of a sudden I have itchy skin and rash that if scratched long enough becomes little bumps like pimples and then bleed. I have started the pretisone just yesterday but after reading all the other people with the same rashes of sorts I don't expect to help. I guess I'm going to just trust for healing my the LORD since he took all of our sickness and disease to the cross for us. Im not conviced any doctor can accurately diagnose this rash and all it seems like is that they want to perscibe things right away and not find out the root cause of it. I don't want to take steroids for ever. Hope we can all be healed together. I will be praying for us all.

Hello Marie

You are fortunate indeed to never have had any sort of rash before.  There is a first time for everything.  You might want to read this article about how to tell if it is skin allergies.

You are right that it would be good to know the cause of this but in the meantime you don't want to be itching so much so they try Prednisone.  I have taken this and for the short term it is not so bad.  I am sure they will not want you to be on it for a long time.  It is not the type of steroid you hear about people over using like with athletes or anything like that.

Here is our information about Prednisone:

"Prednisone is a corticosteroid hormone (glucocorticoid). It decreases your immune system's response to various diseases to reduce symptoms such as swelling and allergic-type reactions."

I hope your rash goes away soon.  Thank you for your question.
