Q: I have a mark on my upper lip.

I have plucked my mustache for years causing a mark on my upper lip. The mustache was not very noticeable but after plucking so much I sometimes leave little cuts trying to pluck even the smallest hair. The mark is more noticeable than the mustache now. How can I treat it so I can get rid of it?

Hi there

I would definitely stop the plucking!  It sounds like you are getting too many cuts and possible scars.  How long has the mark been there?

Please know that I am not a doctor but in researching your question I found this article about the use of dermal fillers for scarring.   Some other options listed for getting rid of scars are the use of laser treatment or microdermabrasion.  You are talking about the lip area and that is a very sensitive area so I would definitely consult with a dermatologist on this.

On skin care forums it seems that bio-oil is very popular for reducting scars.

Again, you want to see a doctor or a dermatologist so they can take a look at what you have and how to best treat it.

Good luck to you!  Thank you for your question.
