Will wearing swim goggles cause permanent damage to skin around the eyes in a 54-year-old?

I have read reports of swim goggles creating a permanent trough around the eye area and bruising as well.  I am starting to swim for exercise again after many years.  I'm now 54 and don't want to add to the wrinkles and skin damage around my eyes.  Can you offer some advice?  Thank you.
